Terms of Service - Story Time Language

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Story Time Language mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.


2. Description of Service

Story Time Language is a language learning application that provides interactive stories, vocabulary games, and educational content to help users learn new languages through story-based learning.


3. Account and Registration

• You may be required to create an account to access certain features
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
• You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account


4. Auto-Renewable Subscriptions

4.1 Subscription Plans

Story Time Language offers auto-renewable subscription plans that provide access to premium features, including:
• Unlimited story generation
• Ad-free experience
• Advanced vocabulary tools
• Priority customer support

4.2 Free Trial Period

IMPORTANT TRIAL INFORMATION:

• All new users automatically receive a 14-DAY FREE TRIAL with full access to premium features
• NO payment or credit card required to start your trial
• NO automatic charges when the trial ends
• After your 14-day trial ends, your account automatically converts to a FREE account with:
  - Limited tokens that regenerate over time
  - Ability to earn tokens by watching ads
  - Option to purchase token packages
  - Option to subscribe to premium for unlimited access

If You Choose to Subscribe During Your Trial:
• Your paid subscription begins immediately
• You will lose access to any remaining free trial days
• Subscription provides unlimited token access and ad-free experience

4.3 Pricing and Payment

• Subscription prices are clearly displayed within the App before purchase
• iOS users: Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
• Android users: Payment will be charged to your Google Play account at confirmation of purchase
• All prices are in USD (or your local currency as displayed in your platform's app store)
• Prices may vary by platform and region
• Prices are subject to change with notice to existing subscribers

4.4 Automatic Renewal

• Your subscription will automatically renew unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
• The renewal charge will be at the same price as your initial subscription unless we notify you of a price change
• iOS users: Manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your Apple ID Account Settings
• Android users: Manage your subscription and turn off auto-renewal in your Google Play Subscriptions

4.5 Cancellation

• You may cancel your subscription at any time
• iOS: Open App Store → Profile → Subscriptions → Story Time Language → Cancel Subscription
• Android: Open Google Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions → Story Time Language → Cancel Subscription
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period
• You will retain access to premium features until the end of your paid period
• No refunds will be provided for unused portions of a subscription period

4.6 Refund Policy

• All purchases are handled by your platform's app store (Apple App Store or Google Play)
• Refund requests must be submitted directly to:
  - iOS users: Apple through the App Store or reportaproblem.apple.com
  - Android users: Google through Google Play
• Platform refund policies apply to all purchases
• We do not have the ability to issue refunds directly; all refunds must go through the platform


5. Token System and In-App Purchases

5.1 Virtual Currency

• The App uses a virtual currency system called "tokens"
• Tokens can be earned through daily rewards, watching ads, or purchased via In-App Purchase
• Tokens are used to generate stories, access games, and use translation features

5.2 In-App Purchases

• Token packages are available for purchase through your platform's app store (Apple App Store or Google Play)
• All purchases are final and non-refundable except as required by law or platform policies
• Tokens have no real-world monetary value and are for in-app use only
• Tokens cannot be transferred between users, sold, or exchanged for real currency
• Unused tokens remain in your account indefinitely and do not expire
• Token balances are tied to your account and may sync across devices when logged in

5.3 Token Regeneration

• Free users receive a limited number of tokens that regenerate over time
• The regeneration rate and maximum token balance are subject to change
• Premium subscribers may receive enhanced token regeneration rates


6. Content and Intellectual Property

6.1 Our Content

• The App software, user interface, vocabulary lists, games, and educational framework are owned by Story Time Language or its licensors
• The App itself is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws
• You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse engineer the App software

6.2 AI-Generated Story Content - Your Ownership

Important: You Own the Stories You Generate

• Stories are generated using Large Language Model (LLM) artificial intelligence technology
• You retain full ownership of all stories generated for you through the App
• You are free to use, share, modify, publish, and distribute your generated stories in any way you choose
• We make no copyright claim to the story content generated for you
• You may use generated stories for personal, educational, or commercial purposes without restriction

6.3 LLM Content Disclaimers

No Warranties on AI-Generated Content:
• We do not guarantee the accuracy, appropriateness, or quality of AI-generated stories
• AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or inappropriate material
• Stories are provided for educational and entertainment purposes only
• We are not responsible for the content, language accuracy, or educational value of generated stories
• AI models may occasionally produce unexpected, offensive, or factually incorrect content despite our content filters

Content Filtering:
• We implement content filters to promote age-appropriate and educational content
• No filtering system is perfect; parental supervision is recommended for children
• You are responsible for evaluating the suitability of generated content for your use

6.4 Your Responsibility for Generated Content

• If you choose to share, publish, or distribute stories generated through the App, you are solely responsible for:
  - Ensuring the content complies with applicable laws
  - Any consequences of sharing the content publicly
  - Verifying factual accuracy if used for educational purposes
  - Respecting third-party intellectual property that may be referenced in AI-generated content

6.5 User-Submitted Content

• You retain ownership of any vocabulary words, preferences, or other content you create or submit through the App
• By submitting content, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store and process your data to provide App functionality
• We will not use your personal vocabulary lists or learning data for any purpose other than providing you service


7. Privacy and Data Collection

• Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy
• By using the App, you consent to our collection and use of data as described in the Privacy Policy
• We use data to improve the App, personalize content, and provide customer support


8. User Conduct

You agree NOT to:
• Use the App for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Use automated systems or bots to access the App
• Harass, abuse, or harm other users
• Upload malicious code or viruses
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations


9. Age Requirements

• The App is intended for users aged 4 and above
• Users under 13 must have parental consent to use the App
• Age verification is required during initial setup
• Users must confirm they are 13 years of age or older to access all features
• Users under 13 have restricted access to certain content genres (Romance, Horror, Thriller)
• Age verification status can be changed at any time in Account Settings
• Parents are responsible for monitoring their children's use of the App and In-App Purchases


10. Third-Party Services

• The App may integrate with third-party services (e.g., Apple Sign-In, analytics, payment processors)
• Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms and conditions
• We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of third-party services


11. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
• Warranties of merchantability
• Fitness for a particular purpose
• Non-infringement
• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• Accuracy of content or language learning outcomes


12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
• We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim
• Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations on liability, so these limitations may not apply to you


13. Educational Disclaimer

• The App is designed as a supplemental language learning tool
• We do not guarantee language proficiency or specific learning outcomes
• The App should not be relied upon as the sole method of language instruction
• Content accuracy may vary; consult professional language resources for critical applications
• AI-generated translations and language examples may contain errors or unconventional usage
• Users should verify critical translations with qualified language professionals


14. LLM Technology Limitations and Risks

14.1 Technology Limitations

Understanding AI-Generated Content:
• Stories are generated by third-party Large Language Models (LLMs) such as OpenAI's GPT models
• LLMs are probabilistic systems that generate content based on patterns in training data
• Generated content may not always be factually accurate, culturally appropriate, or grammatically perfect
• The App uses content filters, but no filtering system can guarantee 100% appropriate content

14.2 Potential Content Issues

Users should be aware that AI-generated stories may occasionally contain:
• Grammatical errors or unnatural language constructions
• Factual inaccuracies or anachronisms
• Cultural stereotypes or biases present in training data
• Repetitive phrases or storylines
• Inconsistent character behavior or plot elements
• Content that bypasses filters despite our best efforts

14.3 Third-Party AI Services

• We use third-party AI services (including but not limited to OpenAI) to generate story content
• We are not responsible for changes to, interruptions of, or limitations of these third-party services
• AI service availability and quality may vary
• We reserve the right to change AI providers at any time without notice

14.4 No Professional Advice

• AI-generated content is not a substitute for professional language instruction
• Do not rely on generated content for professional translation, legal documents, or critical communications
• Content is provided for educational entertainment purposes only


15. Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to:
• Modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time
• Change subscription prices with notice to existing subscribers
• Adjust token costs, regeneration rates, or economy mechanics
• Modify or replace AI models and content generation systems
• Update these Terms at any time
• Changes to Terms will be posted in the App and on our website
• Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of modified Terms


16. Termination

• We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time for violation of these Terms
• You may terminate your account at any time by deleting the App and canceling any active subscriptions
• Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately
• Sections that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect


17. Governing Law and Disputes

• These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States
• Any disputes shall be resolved in accordance with applicable U.S. federal and state laws
• You agree to attempt informal resolution before pursuing formal legal action
• For disputes under $10,000, you agree to resolve through binding arbitration or small claims court
• Class action lawsuits are waived to the extent permitted by law


18. Apple-Specific Terms (iOS Users)

18.1 Acknowledgment

• These Terms are between you and Story Time Language, not Apple
• Apple is not responsible for the App or its content
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services

18.2 License

• The license granted is limited to a non-transferable license to use the App on Apple devices you own or control
• The license is as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple App Store Terms of Service

18.3 Third-Party Beneficiary

• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms
• Apple has the right to enforce these Terms against you

18.4 Product Claims

• We, not Apple, are responsible for:
  - Addressing any claims relating to the App
  - Product liability claims
  - Claims that the App fails to conform to legal requirements
  - Consumer protection or similar legislation claims

18.5 Intellectual Property

• In the event of third-party claims that the App infringes intellectual property rights, we (not Apple) are responsible for investigation and defense


19. Android-Specific Terms (Google Play Users)

19.1 Acknowledgment

• These Terms are between you and Story Time Language, not Google
• Google is not responsible for the App or its content
• Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed through Google Play

19.2 Google Play Billing

• All payments are processed by Google Play
• Refund requests must be submitted to Google Play
• Google Play's terms of service govern all transactions

23. Waiver

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.


24. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)

• The App is designed to be appropriate for users aged 4 and above
• We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent
• Parents can review, delete, or refuse further collection of their child's information

3. Tap "Subscriptions"
4. Select "Story Time Language"
5. Here you can:

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
• Your 14-day free trial requires NO payment information and has NO automatic charges
• After the trial, you automatically become a free user with regenerating tokens
• You can choose to subscribe at any time for unlimited access
• If you subscribe during the trial period, billing begins immediately and you lose remaining trial days
